Notes: Written for a vampire prompt in the 2020 spook_me fic challenge. A mere couple of months viewing “Dark Shadows” back in the Early Aughts was enough to make me a devout Julia/Barnabas shipper, and rewatching the series all these years later has only further shown me how wonderful their dynamic is.

Notes: A little extra treat for wildfireblossom in the 2016 trickortreatex. Her prompts included Fai’s vampire-angst (my own favorite “Tsubasa” subject) and Kurogane getting injured, so I thought I might as well combine the two. The timeline of the manga doesn’t really leave much room for any outside-of-canon world-hopping after Fai became a vampire, but for the purposes of this story, let’s assume they did have a chance for this little side trip.

My initial idea for this story was more of a mental image than anything, so I expected it to be fairly simple and brief… but Mika’s angst and the complexity of his situation just sort of ran away with it. I hope it works passably well, as I’ve had to draw my own logical conclusions about several things that were given little detail in the anime.
