Notes: This fic was written (quite hurriedly) for the prompt of “Healing” at fan_flashworks—although I’ve wanted to write some version of this altered scene for a long time before now. It’s basically just a “how it should have ended” for the KotIF series, correcting the incredibly hurtful and needless narrative decisions that were inflicted upon Ikoma. As will probably be obvious if you’ve read my other KotIF stories, this has always been the preferred conclusion in my own headcanon. *g*

Notes: Considering how much loss they’ve experienced due to the Kabane, a holiday honoring the spirits of departed loved ones has to be especially poignant to the people of Hinomoto. I wanted to examine that, as well as how its customs might be altered out of necessity for those who cannot return to their homes.

Notes: Written for the prompts of “Washing” at fan_flashworks, “Underestimate” at smallfandomflsh, and “Co-Workers” at genprompt_bingo. This was inspired by the scene where Kajika reproves Kurusu for his dirty hands, but I’ve developed her motivation beyond merely preserving civilized manners, because… well, the practical reasons should be extremely obvious. (Also, a reader wanted to see more of the potential dynamics between the different social groups on the Kotetsujo. I very much agree, so here is my take on bushi-steamsmith relations.)

Notes: So, there’s a new fandom in my life. I fell ragingly in love with “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” on my first binge-watch… which I’d say was pretty inevitable, for reasons that may be obvious to anyone who knows the patterns of my fandoms. *g* And of course little iron-hearted bunnies started hopping quickly, because this started the next day. The result is my first fic in the fandom—and it definitely won’t be the last.
