Title: Metamorphosis
Author: [personal profile] jordannamorgan
Archive Rights: Please request the author’s consent.
Rating/Warnings: Mild PG.
Characters: Christine, Stephen, Wong.
Setting: Sometime after Doctor Strange.
Summary: Christine could appreciate better than anyone what Stephen became, because she knew what he had been.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: I wrote most of this story in 2017. In the years since I have soured on the MCU’s direction, but I still have a soft spot for Doctor Strange. In 2022 I was inspired to finish this after a rewatch of his original solo film, but somehow it took me another ten months to finalize and post it.
This fic fills the prompt “The Cost of Magic” at [community profile] genprompt_bingo. Over the course of the movie, Stephen’s character arc from self-centeredness to self-sacrifice is really an amazing thing to behold. Christine’s perspective is ideal for examining just how dramatic that change is, considering she never got to see the actual steps of that long process.

It was a summons that made Doctor Christine Palmer’s heart jump every time. )

Characters: Stephen Strange, Christine Palmer.
Setting: Sometime after the events of Doctor Strange.
Summary: A starlight drive is Christine’s approach to an unresolved issue of Stephen’s.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Written for the prompt “Take the Wheel” at [community profile] fan_flashworks. Partially inspired by the song “Always On the Outside” by Common Children, which also provided the title.

It wasn’t a date, Christine asserted. It was just dinner with a friend. )

After the battle against the Zealots, Wong took to keeping a close eye on Doctor Strange. )

Title: Priorities
Author: [personal profile] jordannamorgan
Archive Rights: Please request the author’s consent.
Rating/Warnings: G.
Characters: Stephen Strange.
Setting: During and after the events of Doctor Strange.
Summary: The shifting of Stephen’s priorities was not an easy process.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Originally written for the prompt “Fool’s Gold” at [community profile] fandomweekly. (Trivia: at the time of writing, the particular watch I based my description on was priced at over one-hundred-eighty thousand dollars.)

The one thing he once sought to fix about himself was the one thing that hadn’t changed at all. )

Title: Bar Tab

Summary: Thor gets a lesson in responsibility from the most unlikely of people.

A bar tab isn’t supposed to include the cost of the bar. )

Title: Flustered
Author: [personal profile] jordannamorgan
Archive Rights: Please request the author’s consent.
Rating/Warnings: G. Canon character death referenced.
Characters: Gamora, Nebula, mentions of others.
Setting: A missing scene late in Volume 2.
Summary: A small moment between Gamora and Nebula.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Written for [personal profile] sholio as a little treat (or maybe a trick topped off with a treat?) in the 2017 [community profile] trickortreatex. I apologize if the initial inclusion of loss-of-Yondu stuff is a bit of a downer. It’s kind of important to the dynamics of Gamora’s feelings and motivations afterward, so I hope the result is ultimately enjoyable.

Gamora found Nebula in a storage bay, rummaging through a crate of prosthetic hands. )

Characters: Groot, the other Guardians, supernatural guests.
Setting: Post-Volume 2.
Summary: The Guardians of the Galaxy are not alone on their new ship.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: My gift for [personal profile] som_fics in the 2017 [community profile] trickortreatex exchange—and also my first completed Guardians of the Galaxy fic.

Title: Proper Names

Rating/Warnings: G.
Characters: Stephen Strange.
Setting: General.
Summary: Sorcerers are very particular in their words.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: A little bit of introspection for the prompt word “Name” at [community profile] fan_flashworks. I actually had the idea weeks before the prompt, so this was a perfect opportunity to write it.

The key to magic was knowing the proper names for things. )

Title: Investment

Rating/Warnings: G.
Characters: Tony Stark and Happy Hogan.
Setting: During the events of Captain America: Civil War.
Summary: Tony put something far more costly than money into Peter’s suit.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Written for the prompt of “spared no expense” at [community profile] fandomweekly.

How are those webshooters coming along, Friday? )

Title: Sticky Inspiration
Author: [personal profile] jordannamorgan
Archive Rights: Please request the author’s consent.
Rating/Warnings: G.
Characters: Peter Parker and Ned Leeds.
Setting: Pre-canon, before Peter gained his powers.
Summary: Peter discovered his webbing before he had spider-powers… and not surprisingly, that was an accident too.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Written for the [community profile] fan_flashworks prompt of “Glue”, because Peter’s webbing was the first thing it made me think of.

Title: Relic Rivalry
Author: [personal profile] jordannamorgan
Archive Rights: Please request the author’s consent.
Rating/Warnings: G.
Characters: Doctor Strange, Thor, and a pair of fractious magical objects. (Also a Christine Palmer cameo.)
Setting: Coda to the mid-credits scene in Doctor Strange.
Summary: Doctor Strange never meant to start an eternal feud between his cloak and Thor’s hammer. It just sort of happened.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Upon watching the teaser encounter between Doctor Strange and Thor, I found that I really wanted to see their not-quite-inanimate companions have a disagreement… and this happened. I’m probably taking liberties with Mjolnir’s capacity for independent action, but for comedic purposes, I think that’s forgivable.
Submitted for the prompt word “Best” at [community profile] fan_flashworks.

His first mistake was probably in giving Thor an unlimited source of alcohol. )

Title: Oblivious
Author: [personal profile] jordannamorgan
Archive Rights: Please request the author’s consent.
Rating/Warnings: G. Some minor-ish Spider-Man: Homecoming spoilers.
Characters: Peter Parker and Ned Leeds.
Setting: Basically over the course of Homecoming.
Summary: The best and worst thing about Ned was how oblivious he was.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Written for the prompt of “Best” at [community profile] fan_flashworks.

Maybe friendship really was a kind of superpower all on its own. )

Title: Your Fault
Author: [personal profile] jordannamorgan
Archive Rights: Please request the author’s consent.
Rating/Warnings: Slight PG for Aunt May’s mouth.
Characters: Tony Stark and May Parker. (With Peter and Happy in the background, literally.)
Setting: Follows Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Summary: Tony faces the wrath of May.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Later movies will probably negate this little fic, but in the wake of Spider-Man: Homecoming, here is my take on what could follow Peter’s movie-ending slip-up. It is loosely inspired by Tony’s usually-humorous penchant for deflecting blame to other people. Fills the prompts of “Glass” at [community profile] fan_flashworks (because glass office walls), and “A Truth Is Revealed” at [community profile] genprompt_bingo.

Clearly, the kid was lousy at the whole secret-identity thing. )
