Rating/Warnings: Mild PG.
Characters: Christine, Stephen, Wong.
Setting: Sometime after Doctor Strange.
Summary: Christine could appreciate better than anyone what Stephen became, because she knew what he had been.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: I wrote most of this story in 2017. In the years since I have soured on the MCU’s direction, but I still have a soft spot for Doctor Strange. In 2022 I was inspired to finish this after a rewatch of his original solo film, but somehow it took me another ten months to finalize and post it.
This fic fills the prompt “The Cost of Magic” at [community profile] genprompt_bingo. Over the course of the movie, Stephen’s character arc from self-centeredness to self-sacrifice is really an amazing thing to behold. Christine’s perspective is ideal for examining just how dramatic that change is, considering she never got to see the actual steps of that long process.

It was a summons that made Doctor Christine Palmer’s heart jump every time. )

Summary: A starlight drive is Christine’s approach to an unresolved issue of Stephen’s.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Written for the prompt “Take the Wheel” at [community profile] fan_flashworks. Partially inspired by the song “Always On the Outside” by Common Children, which also provided the title.

It wasn’t a date, Christine asserted. It was just dinner with a friend. )

Just dropping in to return these. I’m finished with them. )

Rating/Warnings: G.
Characters: Stephen Strange.
Setting: During and after the events of Doctor Strange.
Summary: The shifting of Stephen’s priorities was not an easy process.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Originally written for the prompt “Fool’s Gold” at [community profile] fandomweekly. (Trivia: at the time of writing, the particular watch I based my description on was priced at over one-hundred-eighty thousand dollars.)

The one thing he once sought to fix about himself was the one thing that hadn’t changed at all. )

Characters: Stephen Strange.
Setting: General.
Summary: Sorcerers are very particular in their words.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: A little bit of introspection for the prompt word “Name” at [community profile] fan_flashworks. I actually had the idea weeks before the prompt, so this was a perfect opportunity to write it.

The key to magic was knowing the proper names for things. )

Rating/Warnings: G.
Characters: Doctor Strange, Thor, and a pair of fractious magical objects. (Also a Christine Palmer cameo.)
Setting: Coda to the mid-credits scene in Doctor Strange.
Summary: Doctor Strange never meant to start an eternal feud between his cloak and Thor’s hammer. It just sort of happened.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel. I’m just playing with them.
Notes: Upon watching the teaser encounter between Doctor Strange and Thor, I found that I really wanted to see their not-quite-inanimate companions have a disagreement… and this happened. I’m probably taking liberties with Mjolnir’s capacity for independent action, but for comedic purposes, I think that’s forgivable.
Submitted for the prompt word “Best” at [community profile] fan_flashworks.

His first mistake was probably in giving Thor an unlimited source of alcohol. )
