As for Roy and Riza, my take (which I hinted at through Ed) is that they've secretively had more to their relationship for some time--and now that Roy feels he's been fully absolved by Winry, he feels free to move forward with it in the open. So while it may seem quick to others, it isn't for Roy and Riza themselves. :)
And as for dhampiric Elric(s), as I've mentioned to another reader, I may in future be playing around with some AU-spinoff ideas where Ed remains a dhampir (and accordingly, there are consequences for Al).
Right now, though, I'm looking forward to working on a couple of regular adventure stories from during the Elrics' journey...
