As to the sunlight issue: as Noa pointed out and Ed has learned, vampires in this world aren't exactly as folklore claims them to be. I suppose it was a creative choice on my part. I wanted the dhampirs to have that vulnerability (and Noa's sharing of her blood with Ed after the sun burned him was obviously important to the plot). But since the Hunters have found vampires/homunculi here to be seemingly indestructible, it wouldn't have made much sense for them to have that weakness too.
