Oh, Ed, the mouth, the mouth. Though the thought that immediately popped into my head after Winry's declaration about how Ed would always look at his automail was the scene toward the end of the movie when he tells Al to thank her for the new arm and leg. At which point I'm sure he had a whole new appreciation for automail having spent two years without it. (Admittedly, that wasn't exactly a moment of happiness and joy, but that's what my mind supplied.)
Anyways, despite the ouchie-ness of Ed's careless, fumbling words and the equal dose of wincing brought on by the probable truth behind Winry's, this was a great chapter. As always, everyone is spot on.
This chapter also highlighted something that I've been thinking about for a while. It's pretty clear that Winry had a lot to do with building Ed's original automail. And yet, it's rarely mentioned in fanfic that doing so, when she, like Ed, is eleven makes her every bit as much of a prodigy as the Elrics. Scary kids, the lot of them.
